2008 NEWS....

Jan 03 2008

New Year, New Blood, New Atitude

Usually we end the year by typing up a long-winded look back at the past year.  Not this time.  Listen we did a lot of great things from bars and theaters to a friggin' block party, but it's time to look forward. The great shows we had in 07, 06, 05, don't matter anymore.  It's all about being the best Maiden tribute in 2008 now.  We have assembled a great band and are practicing our asses off.  Our new bass player is Sal Italiano(a nice Irish boy!?!), who is Harris-incarnate.  He's got West Ham blood running through his fingers, Fender basses to aim at any crowd in front of us, and enough Maiden soccer jerseys to field his own team.  So it's all about 2008 now – the beginning of LAD's second decade.

Thanks to Michelle and Anthony at JD's Place, Andrew at Power of Music, the staff at the great Penn's Peak, the staff of the Zebra Club, Livewire, Erick at the Lucky Dog in Worcester, Live Evil, Johnny WC, Mr. Clean, The Bitter End, HM Dave and his Nassau crew, Scott Siebert, John Funk, Alister, Greg Hock, Ed Kern, Kevin and Chopper Bill at Traxx, Mike and Jackie. To all of our regulars – Ray, Johnny, Rory, Alex, Magic John, Craig and the rest of Scott's I.C. crowd– we salute you and that goes for anyone who came to one of our shows in 2007.

Support your local hard rock/metal tributes - Xciter, Sacred Heart, Livewire, Countdown to Extinction (new Megadeth trib), Just Purple, Live Evil, Mammoth, Kill em All, Schism, November Rain and anyone else I can't think of right now.

We've got some of our usual haunts lined up and a bunch more surprises in store.  Stay tuned and get tickets for Maiden at the Meadowlands already.

 NOV. 20th

Wow-An Update!

Live After Death is wrapping up the 2007 season by playing JD's Place in Farmingdale on Sat. Dec 8th. We've had great wall to wall crowds there the last two times, so let's see if we can sell it out this time. can you sell out a bar? Well, come down and see for yourself. LAD will be helped out by Live Evil, who will  open the night with their debut  performance of all things heaven and hell. Get there early.

We had Eddie in a beer can on Halloween-maybe Eddie Claus for 12/8.Look for us to go Somewhere Back In Time and play 2 hours of all the hits and then some.

2008 Schedule coming soon.

On Nov. 2nd we were part of a great show at Penn's Peak. A 1200 capacity venue in Jim Thorpe, PA. We want to thank all the staff and Maiden fans that we met there. Videos and Pictures can be found through our MySpace page (www.myspace.com/liveafterdeathny).Also a big "We salute you" to the boys in Live Wire who did the AC/DC thing about as good as it can be done without the real Brain and Angus up there. See them as soon as you can.

Aug. 15th

The Show this Sat. Aug. 18th at JD's Place has been Cancelled. JD's  has been Shut down for the moment and no further info has been given yet. Please visit our My Space page for further updates and future gigs.

June 4th

A lot of interesting things are happening, so why not another update? First of all we hooked up with another great tribute band, November Rain, who does a spot on Guns And Roses show. We will be double billing with them This Saturday night, June 9th at The Krazy Kangaroo on Jericho turnpike in New Hyde Park. This is the old Dublin Pub for those of you Locals that remember. After that were going into Queens to a great place called Bar 131 in College Point. This is one of those great rock bars that we feel very lucky to have found. From everything we've seen and heard it should be a real in your face night of MAIDEN! Then, The Summer comes. We've got a 10 year Anniversary show in August at JD's place That will be Joined by a few local shows we're working on, A big Outdoor Summer Bash, and a trip or two off the Island...

April  24th

This month's update should sound familiar-another over the top show at JD's Place. There's  nothing like getting together with 97 of our closest friends. You can read all about it on our myspace page. (click on our shows page to take you there). We hope to be back there again on a double bill with Saviour in July. More local shows on Long Island and Queens the next two months as we plot our next adventure to far, far away...and we'll keep Jamming in between so you hear a different Maiden song every time. We're in a real Killers and Seventh Son mood lately. Keep coming to the shows to see what that means...

March 17th

Yes, It's been awhile since the last update but rest assured this band is still on fire! We have 2 gigs on the burner and there back to back, So if you can't catch us upstate NY in Utica on March 24th (see shows) Our Long Island friends can come see us blast out your Favorite Iron Maiden Classics on March 25th at The Crazy Donkey! See below for details...

Jan 30 2007

We're hard at work in the rehearsal room getting some interesting set lists together for 2007. We're learning a few songs that we've never done in our almost 10 year history, bringing back some oldies and adding another one or two from "A matter of life and death." Who knows were this year will take LAD, but for for now we're happy with the Zebra Club in Copiague, Champs in Utica and JD's Place in east Farmingdale. Be sure to check out the shows page for info on our next three shows and come back here next week for some updated bios, pics, and videos....

DEC 29  2006...

Most years we wrap up the year with a little send off, so here we go again. Except this one will be a little different - more honest you might say. We can rah, rah, rah all the way through, but they'll be plenty of time to kiss our own ass later

Unlike past years this one didn't start off that great. We played to a small crowd at The Bull in NJ at the end of January, but we played the entire Number of the Beast album so we saw it as a success and a little milestone because of the unique set. That was followed by a sure fire hit of a show on St. Patrick's Day  a Saturday night - on Staten Island. Thank God our friends from Maiden NY came down because they were the only ones there. It was good to see them happy and healthy and without any knives that we supposedly planted in their backs. We have to do a double-bill with those guys soon.

Late March rolled past and suddenly the year changed after a little show at Someplace Else in Farmingdale (now renamed JD's Place). It was Xciter first and us second and the place was wild. It was easily our best LI show in a couple of years. We played as well as ever and did familiar songs, but on that night 2006 changed for us. The next thing we knew it was a few more successful shows with Mr. Clean around Long Island and we (along with Xciter) get asked to cruise to Florida for some shows. Hell yes, we'll do it! Thanks to Rich from Maximum Bands for seeking out bands that sound like the real thing and knowing junk email when he reads it. The man knows his metal and now the Tampa and Jacksonville areas know Live After Death. But this tribute world unfortunately brings out the worst in some, who see everything as a competition. Long gone are the days when a bunch of tributes could sit around and say, "Can you believe we're getting paid for this or look at how many people love (insert band) or Hey let's do some shows together." Now you worry about the lies said about you and the possibility of your websites being erased. If writing in all caps means you're screaming then  YOU'RE IN A TRIBUTE BAND.

Like one of those cartoon villains that ties a girl to the railroad tracks, I can almost see someone out there twirling their mustache and smiling into the camera as they make their dastardly plans. Whatever gets you off, I guess. Start typing "Trinidad" and "Headbangers Ball" into Google and see where it gets you. We'll keep doing what we've done for 10 years and that is hang out with some of Iron Maiden's best fans a couple of times a month in any part of the world that will have us.

Enough of that, for now. Here's 2006's "thank you's" JD's Place, The Zebra Club, Rich from Maximum Bands, Brian of the infamous backyard party, Brother Joe from 2U, the 11,000 people who read our interview on Metal Sludge (which lead to dozens of show offers from around the country, sorry we can't get to all of them-Scream for me Louisville!?!), Mr. Clean, Billy and Children of the Korn, Ricky and Unchained, and most of all thanks to the regulars who come to every LI show.

Trinidad gets it's own paragraph. Scream for me Trinidad! What a year-ender! Thanks to Willie and Brandon for extensively searching the web to find the world's best tributes and for flying us down so that we could party with three other great bands and play for 1200something of the best metal fans in the world. The energy we felt down there will easily carry us through 2007. Which means we finally have to make that friggin' 10 year anniversary T-shirt. See you in 2007...your Friends in Live After Death....

NOV 17- LIVE AFTER DEATH GOES INTERNATIONAL!

After Playing Long Island, Manhattan Island, The Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico (Numerous Times) We needed another Island to add to the list, so why not Trinidad?

New York's BEST sounding and LONGEST running IRON MAIDEN tribute band is proud to announce that we will be playing on the Island of Trinidad on Saturday, December 16th.

It looks like the closest any Maiden Tribute band will ever get to their own Rock In Rio! Scream For Me Trinidad ! Because of this show we can now say come see us at our last U.S. show in 2006!!! The show is This Saturday (TONIGHT) November 25th at Someplace Else in Farmingdale. We will be playing with Xciter the Judas Priest tribute. Live After Death hits the stage at 10:30. OCT 17-  We  had a really great time at the Zebra Club on Sept 30th and judging by the turnout we will be back there real soon! Its' been a little slow with the updates for a few reasons but rest assured they are some really good ones! We will have some big (As big as any tribute band goes) news in the upcoming week to throw out there for you guys so hang tight. Your Favorite Maiden Tribute band will be commin' to get ya!

SEPT 9 - We've been cranking the new MAIDEN CD,"A Matter Of Life And Death" all week and will be learning a couple songs from it real soon. Send us an e-mail or leave a comment on our My Space page letting us know what songs you want to hear. click on the pic below...there's a new video clip from one of our Florida shows...

Our next show is Saturday Sept. 30th at THE ZEBRA CLUB on Montauk highway in Copaigue (Located west of Wellwood ave) Go to the shows page for more info.

AUG 30 -We usually judge shows based on how we sounded, how loud the crowd sounded during "The Trooper", and how successful the show was for the club. All those things worked out great Sunday at Mr. Beerys, but at the same time our set was not the highlight for us. The bands, the people, the staff and everyone who helped Brenda put on this memorial show for Lou were the highlight. The whole day had a cool, friendly vibe as a rainy Sunday outside felt like a Saturday night inside. Thanks to all the LAD regulars who came out for this great cause and to Joe Marselle, Joe Kirsch, and Rich Maresca for doing 4 songs LAD 1997 Style.

As the old saying goes, "You can tell someone's character by the friends he keeps" and Sunday proved what a great person Lou Parasimo was.

Looking toward the future - We will be at the Zebra Club in Copiaque on Saturday, September 30th @ 10:00pm to do a full 2 hour headlining show. We'll get everyone pumped up for the coliseum show on October 12th and then Lay low for a few weeks. We're still deciding if we want to do a Halloween show, and some local things are cooking for Nov/Dec.

AUG 17 - Details on our next upcoming show...

AUG 10- Show(s) Report for August 5th

We like to try new things, so why not two shows in the same day?  We played a party in Selden during the day and then Bottoms Up in Flushing later that night.  The party was hosted by Brian as a birthday party for his brother Dan (or was it an excuse to just party) and was part music festival and part biker rally.  As Mike from Mr. Clean put it, "a mini Sturgis"Brian threw a great party and really knew how to treat his guests and the bands (LAD and Mr. Clean).  He should open a rock club!We then hauled our shit to Bottoms Up in Queens which is owned by our good friend Charlie.  The place is a month old and is working out the kinks, but everyone always says they don't make rock clubs like they used to, well this is proof that they do.  It's a great place with new everything.  Go see a show there. Thanks to those who came out, for 50 people in a room that holds 400 you sure sounded loud to us.  Although with all those crazy lights we may have been having a seizure.

JULY 24- New photos posted from Florida.Check em out! Thanks goes out to Steve R.for the Freebird live shots. We should have some new video clips up later in the week so check back soon.

JULY 20- So much for Florida being the ‘laid back’ state.  The people we met from Tampa and Jacksonville were anything but relaxed.  They knew their metal, their Maiden and their drinks.  We played to some great people at both Club Bourbon Street and Freebird Live and a big thanks to all who came out, especially these lunatics who came up on stage for an encore at Freebird Live.

Full Florida report with pictures and video coming soon!

Now get lost and enjoy the real thing by going to Ironmaiden.com to watch their new video/single “The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg”

MAY 22      IN MEMORY OF LOU PARASIMO  MAY 16 2006

The band received the sad news last week that Lou Parasimo had passed away.  Lou was the guy responsible for Live After Death being formed.  Early in 1997, Lou came up with the idea of starting an Iron Maiden tribute band when there weren’t many tribute bands around, not to mention Iron Maiden ones.

Lou called up some musicians that he knew – Scott to sing, Joe Marselle to play guitar, Rich Maresca to play bass, and Joe Kirsch to play drums – and said he wanted to play the entire Live After Death album at a couple of bars.  The band never thought anyone would care, and it might have ended there if not for Lou’s persistence during band practice and at booking shows.  He set the tone during that first year for the band to be more than friends playing some drunken versions of Maiden tunes; he made it a note for note tribute in every sense of the word.  Although, four current members never played with him, we are indebted to him.  Without him starting it, we wouldn't be enjoying it.  This band is obviously a musical tribute to Iron Maiden, but we are also now a tribute to Lou.

Rest in Peace,

Scott, Joe, Rich, Joe, Greg, Bob, Nick, Rob

Click below to see Lou doing what he did best.

 MAY 10

We had two great shows last week.  Seeing 150+ people at The Crazy Donkey on a Thursday was impressive, and The Hairy Lemon was the typical Lemon – drinking, yelling, and lots of Maiden.

We will be back at The Lemon on Friday, June 2nd.  We are NOT at The Lemon on May 13th, which was advertised in some places.

Our next show is Saturday, May 20th at The Courthouse in Massapequa. We hope to see you there.  WE had a great show there two months ago and we plan on mixing the set up a bit.  Check out the Photos from MAY 4th at The Donkey Courtesy of Jim Totoro...Click on the pic below

April 17  SOMEPLACE ELSE WAS INSANE!

That was the one show on our schedule that we weren’t sure about.  It was new place; we found out at the last minute we were going on much later than we originally thought, and we weren’t sure if it was publicized enough. Then, out of nowhere, it becomes one of our wildest LI shows in years!  It had an insane crowd with a loud as hell Fear of the Dark chant, a surprise Eddie appearance, people jumping on stage, and somebody throwing 20 bills at us to play Maiden requests.  We thank all of you freaks who came out Saturday night and showed us how metal this Island can be.  You’re the reason we still do this and the reason why we slept through most of our Easter festivities.

In show news – the next big LI gig is Thursday May4th at The Crazy Donkey.  Club Loaded is presenting a Mockfest with us and Wizard of Ozz.  If there’s any place that consistently pulls of great Thursday and Sunday shows it’s Club Loaded at the Donkey.  You’ve been there; you know what we’re talking about.

April 12    Great time at The Bull on Saturday the 8th, as usual.  We want to give a special thanks to Rocco one of the guitarists from Maiden NY, another great tribute.  Rocco made the trip to NJ for us at the last minute when we needed him.  He did all the Maiden we asked; nothing got by him not even a little Dio.  We also met some new people and we promised them we’d play “Mariner” next time.  We’ll be back at The Bull in July, so you have to stop by for at least 13 minutes to hear it.

Up next is Someplace Else on Saturday the 15th. Our next update will have Long Island Mockfest news and confirmed Florida dates.  Stay tuned!

APRIL 01 Check out the new show dates. What is listed is indeed confirmed. We here at LAD.com wont list a show until it is 100 percent confirmed. You might have come across some other sites that have dozens of listings for dates that were NOT confirmed. Please check here first. Our shows here are 100 percent on.

NOV 14  2005 Send off....

With no more shows left for 2005 the obvious question is, what is left to do after all the big shows of the past eight and a half years?  With eight states and some Caribbean islands under our belts, we don't know what is left either.  We keep thinking there can't be anybody left out there who still wants to hear a Maiden tribute bang out the songs as much as we like to play them, especially with the Real Thing touring every year. Every year, though, we find a few new places (like The Bull this year) with people who can't get enough and don't seem to be sick of the overabundance of every past band having two or three tributes devoted to them.

Yet as the week of our last show for 2005 winds down, we've gotten emails from a new place in Queens, a guy asking us to come to Canada, people begging us to come down south more often, and a fourth trip to Puerto Rico may be in the works.

So, will we do all those things?  Who knows?  We've given up trying to explain what does and doesn't happen in the tribute world.  The only thing we control is playing and singing the songs as they were recorded and we do it damn well.

When Live After Death started the members thought it would last for 4 or 5 shows in the summer.  That was the summer of 1997. Since then there have been no breaks, no years off, just wall-to-wall Maiden.  It's the band we love the most and the metal band with the most loyal following no contest. Because of that we know 2006 will be more of the same craziness because as we've said before, they won't let us stop and dammit we don't want to. Plus, a tenth anniversary T-shirt would look real cool. See you sometime in 2006! Up those Irons!

OCT 10   Great Time Rocking Queens

We had a great time this weekend at Cassidys in Astoria.  The neighborhood gives them a lot of grief about the noise, which led to us having to use a Roland electronic set for drums, but it was a great show.  We played here a bunch of times when it was Bottoms Up and its always worth the trip, meeting new people, hearing the Fear of the Dark chant, and being videotaped (we think!?). Thanks to those who drove from way out east all the way to Queens to see us and a big thanks to Charlie and Taz for having us back in the rotation of great tributes.  Also, a big horns up to Rocco and Frank from Maiden NY, another great Maiden tribute that plays all over NYC (and soon the world), who came up and did a song with us.

Next up is Dudleys in New Rochelle on Saturday 10/15, followed by Manhattan, NJ, and Ct.  (and soon the world).  Look for us to be playing some full albums at future shows. We started off 8 years ago by playing just the Live After Death album (band name - get it?) and now it's time for us to do the same with a few studio albums.  Which one will be first?  Come to The Bull in NJ on 11/5 and see for yourself.

SEPT 7    Nov 12th gig Confirmed ! Check our shows page for details.

SEPT  5   A Few Photos From Lemonfest Posted. Also a Nov 12th gig in Connecticut in the works. Keep on checking our shows page for the latest.
